Soul Hugger is an odd monster. He was one of the first attempts by Social Point at making a really bulky Attacker that keeps themselves alive constantly. [[Kawthor]] and even the ok at best [[PZ Ronin]] were honestly better attempts at this idea. Soul Hugger goes in a direction that heavily favors matchups against Spirit monsters, and his version of healing is all in his Life Steal skills. He was also one of the first monsters to feature the really powerful Res Block trait, which this trait and his skills leads him to be a really unique, but honestly not all too meta monster.

Soul Hugger feeds on damned souls, but they aren't an easy meal to find. However, this monster knows his way around Hell, and he has paid one of the Soulfagi to "lose" a soul or two from time to time when carrying them around areas of punishment. Thus, the Soulfagous gets an extra pay and Soul Hugger gets his dinner!

Role: Self-Sustaining Attacker

Overview

Soul Hugger is an odd monster. He was one of the first attempts by Social Point at making a really bulky Attacker that keeps themselves alive constantly. Soul Hugger goes in a direction that heavily favors matchups against Spirit monsters, and his version of healing is all in his Life Steal skills. He was also one of the first monsters to feature the really powerful Resurrection Block trait, which this trait and his skills leads him to be a really unique, but honestly not all too meta monster.

Pros:

  • Solid speed
  • Massive life
  • Great trait
  • 100% Life Steal moves
  • Double Life + Double Healing
  • Extra Turn + Spirit Hater move
  • Special is real powerful: 55 AoE damage + AoE PER + Self 100% Life Steal and Double Life + Team NER
  • Manageable Cooldowns
  • All around lower Stamina Costs
  • Unique Relic slots that give him many interesting options

Cons:

  • Mediocre power despite being an attacker
  • Only has Stamina Leak as a negative status effect and you won't be even using it anyways
  • Lack of Good AoE moves (best one does 40 damage and nothing else)
  • Reverse/Negate Healing ruins him
  • Outside of Soul Dessert, has pretty low damage on most skills
  • Heavily outclassed by other Elites

Recommended Moveset

  • No Spirits Allowed (Self Spirit Hater + Extra Turn, 21s, 2 CD)
  • The Gourmet (40 Special dmg + self Double Life + Double Healing, 31s, 3 CD)
  • Soul Dessert (70 Special dmg + 100% Life Steal, 21s, 2 CD)

Recommended Runes: 2 Strength, 1 Speed/Team Speed/Life ; 3 Strength ; 1 Strength, 2 Team Speed

Recommended Relics: Nebotus' Armor, Morgz's Armor, Heavy Duty Armor, Sherezar's Amulet, Alces' Amulet

Counters

  • Soul Hugger's main gimmick is to steal the opponents' life, so Reverse Healing monsters can hurt him a lot. Such examples include Dr. Marihelson and Pierceid.
  • Strong Light attackers like Wyrmlad and PZ Ronin can turn him into dinner.
  • Easily denied by everything except Possession and Corruption
